Privacy Policy

This policy explains how The Lean CPTO (“we”, “us”), handles personal information collected through this website, our business case builder and the free spreadsheet download. We follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Where we work with clients in Japan, we also handle their information in line with Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI).
What we collect
- Your email address, when you ask for the free roadmap and audit.
- Your business case, when you submit your email: the task you described, the answers you selected, and the results the builder calculated (hours, savings, investment range, payback, readiness).
- Anything you tell us by email, on a call or during a roadmap and audit.
- Technical information that web servers record automatically, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit.
You can use the business case builder without giving us anything. It runs in your browser, and your answers are only sent to us if you enter your email and press “Get my free roadmap”. The spreadsheet download does not ask for any details.
Please don’t enter sensitive information (for example health information, or details about identifiable customers or staff) into the builder’s free-text field.
Why we collect it
- To prepare and send your roadmap and audit, and to contact you about it.
- To reply to your questions and provide services you ask for.
- To understand which problems businesses are trying to solve, so we can improve the builder and our services. Where we do this, we use combined figures, not your individual details.
- To keep the website secure and working.
We will only send you marketing emails if you have agreed to receive them, and every marketing email includes a way to unsubscribe.
Who we share it with
We don’t sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with:
- Service providers who help us run the business, such as our website host, email provider and the tools we use to manage enquiries. They may only use it to provide their service to us.
- Partners in our network, such as a fractional CTO or CPO, but only if you ask us to introduce you and only the details needed for that introduction.
- Authorities, where the law requires it.
Information stored or accessed overseas
Some of our service providers store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States and Japan. For example, this website loads fonts from Google, which means your browser connects to Google’s servers. We take reasonable steps to make sure overseas providers protect your information in a way that is consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.
Cookies and analytics
This website does not use advertising cookies. Visitors who are not logged in are not given cookies by our site. We do not use analytics tools that track you across other websites.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries and business cases for up to 24 months after our last contact with you, unless you become a client, in which case we keep records for as long as we need them to deliver our services and meet our legal obligations. After that we delete or de-identify them.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, including limiting who can access it. No website or email system is completely secure, so please contact us straight away if you think your information has been compromised.
Access, correction and deletion
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email us at hello@theleancpto.com and we will respond within 30 days. We may need to confirm your identity first.
Complaints
If you have a concern about how we have handled your information, please email us first at hello@theleancpto.com and we will try to resolve it within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
